Fitbit to add Snoring Detection in its Fitness Smartwatches
Fitbit is going to add new feature in it's Fitness Smartwatches which can detect Snoring and noise titled "Snore & Noise Detect"
Fitbit is going to add snoring and noise detection in it's fitness smartwatches. This feature allows the fitbit's microphone to listen snoring and other noise, after the user has fallen asleep.
It is also from one of that feature that drain's device battery as it detects the noise throughout the night. This feature not only detects the user's snoring but also the person sleeping next to the user. When the Fitbit detects a noise louder than the baseline level, it tries to determine whether it is picking up snoring or someone else.
The fitbit can't distinguish who is snoring i.e, it can't determine the Fitbit wearer is snoring or the other person is snoring. The release notes recommend users not to play white noise or other ambient sounds in bedroom which can interface the snore detection.
It suggests to user to charge the Fitbit atleast 40% before sleeping for non-stop snoring detection. The release notes do not indicate what users are supposed to do with the information about snoring, but the snoring can be a seriously disruptive to sleeping, it may be a useful metric to be aware of.
Currently, "Snore & Noise Detect" feature is not available for all users.
