Apple Podcasts Subscription Service to be launch Globally on June 15

Apple Podcasts first debuted in-app subscriptions in April with launch planned for May

After some delay, Apple Podcasts announced that it's launching in-app subscriptions next week. As per a Report in-app subscriptions will launch on June 15, the company said yesterday to podcasters.

First Apple planned to launch the in-app subscriptions in May. It then emailed creators to tell them the feature launch would be pushed to June to "ensure we are delivering the beat experience for creators and listeners," likely because of issues the company introduced with a recent backend update.

With the help of this feature, listeners can subscribe to certain shows or networks for early access and ad-free content, among other perks.

Subscribers will also gain access to extra perks like early access to episodes or an ad-free listening experience. Podcasts Subscriptions will launch in 170 countries with initial partners including Pushkin Industries and NPR. Apple will keep 30 percent commission in the first year of a subscription and after that dropping the commission to 15 percent, similar to its App Store.

An annual premium subscription within Apple Podcasts costs Rs.1799($19.99). Creators would, of course be able to decide the pricing of their podcasts, or even offer free trail.

Apple's big idea is that putting a subscribe button in the podcast app, which could draw more premium listeners to various services, like Luminary and Wondery Plus.

Meanwhile, Spotify announced and launch its plan for subscription podcasts in the time since Apple debuted its products and delayed the release.
