Google adds a New Feature that tells you about Fake News
The biggest on the internet nowadays is ''Fake News". Twitter does it a bit by labelling tweets as "manipulated media" and so on. Facebook also have these type of tools but they are not enough.
Google is set to roll out a feature in Search to tell users about Fake news
Recently in Google's I/O event, Google talked about this feature called "About This Result" in Search. Google is working with Wikipedia on this. Users will be able to see how that website describes itself and there will be a link to its Wikipedia page.
If a website doesn't have any Wikipedia description, then google will show users additional context that may be available, such as when google first indexed the site.
Users will also be able to see if their connection to the site is secure or not on its use of the HTTPS protocol, which encrypts all the data between the website and the browser they are using, to keep their users safe from all type of hacking and data leakage.
This feature was introduced in US earlier tis year in February. It is expected that it will reach all the users globally by this month, starting with English language results, it is expected that other language results will be added in future. This feature will be available both on smartphones and desktop.
